The Fun Walk

                            The Fun Walk

The 2015 Annual Funwalk took place on the 2nd of October and was possibly one of the most embarrassing experiences of my life. As always the theme was friendship and so we had to create a dance around that topic whilst sticking to the colour yellow. We chose to make ours all about sun flowers and clouds. Mr Lawler was the sun who enabled the flowers to keep going. Our only opposition was the other Transition Year class Merkel and so we incorporated our newly learned kirate skill to try and beat them (despite the theme being friendship it was important we crushed them ! ).

The TY's had to perform first and while the sixth years were performing we had to take our stations around the area that the fun walk would take place. It was really boring because we just had to sit on the grass guiding people for ages and at the end we didnt even get coke.

The following Monday morning the winners of the fun walk were announced. In Transition year Merkel won. There were only two classes so we essentially came dead last.....

Kilkenny Art Trip

On the 24th of October our year visited Kilkenny for an art trip. We went to a private screening of a film entitled "The Song of The Sea". It is an animated film  by Tomm Moore and I really enjoyed it.

The plot of the movie is as follows: A young boy from Ireland voice by David Rawle discovers that his sister who has never spoken is a "selkie". She must find her voice to free supernatural creatures from a spell cast by a Celtic Goddess voiced by Fionnula Flanagan.

After the film we visited the Butler Gallery to visit the song of the sea exhibition. I found this really really interesting because I love art and it had pictures of all the characters; how they are drawn and how they changed from pencil sketches to active animation.

There were stations set up that showed each of the main characters:

I think this art trip is my favorite thing we have done this year. It was really interesting and I think in the future I would like to be an animator !
